West Cork has one of the most spectacular coastlines in Ireland…From a distance at least that is! Unfortunately however, at a closer inspection, what is becoming ever more present is the waste that is getting washed up on our beaches & waterways.
Thankfully ‘The Oceans Plastic Project’, ran by local activist Rory Jackson, is on the case. Rory has had a relationship with the sea all of his life & since 2017 has been running a series of programmes with Transition Year students from schools throughout West Cork in a bid to educate & clean up our beaches & rivers, so that we can all once again appreciate their true beauty. Rory’s dedication & commitment to the cause is now picking up momentum & he is now inviting other schools, community groups & individuals to get involved.
In this episode of the ‘voice of West Cork’ podcast find out exactly how you can get involved. There is also the ‘Rant of the Day’, ‘Competition Time’, where you can win a €100 SuperValu Shopping Voucher & music from a Castletownbere based lady, Laura Baker.
To enter our competition, simply listen to the podcast & answer the question asked at the end of the interview with Rory & send via our Contact Us page. Closing date is Midnight Sunday 6th March 2022. Good luck!
